Resilience Within the Secret
Another one taken
and
another one gone.
Searching the truth,
but they tell us to quiet down,
about the other one that we lost
There is a secret.
A secret that lives near.
It waits to be opened,
and not wanting to be silenced.
But it waits, with no one willing to explore
She was made for more than just satisfying the eyes
and momentary affections of those passing by.
She was more than just her long dark hair,
more than just her sparkling eyes,
and more than just her figure.
Which was just what she despised.
Her spirit could crush mountains before the rocks
crushed her
She was resilient,
half blade and half silk
delicate to the touch.
Filled with purpose, intention, and grace.
But now she’s gone, along with others too.
Yet another tragedy,
don’t you think it’s unfair?
What about the equality?
Think, wasn’t a white girl once taken
and that became the Trojan war?
How about the little girl?
The young girl who does not know the history of her
worth.
Will you tell her?
The never ending cycle
Those deft discriminations,
the gap,
the abuse,
and the harassment that won’t go away?
That they mock you for being a girl,
Disgrace you for being you.
What about the apologies that never came?
Or the justice that was never served.
How about your damaged heart, the place that they
haunt.
You tell her.
let your hair down and mark your own deadlines.
But you can’t keep her in a cage, clip her wings, and
tell her lies.
Say that fragile birds were never meant to fly.
Tell her,
tell her about the secret that lives nearby.
That waits to be opened
and not wanting to be silenced.
Tell her, about this secret
that welcomes you to the society
placed in a corrupt world
